Clarens – Relaxation on a cliff

If you looking to break away to get in touch with art, nature and tranquility, Clarens is the place to see. It is by far one of my favorites.

A beautiful 3 hour drive from Benoni and you enter a quaint little town filled with art galleries, antique shops and amazing restaurants. You can feel you soul slip into relaxation and your senses buzz with interest.

As a photographer I found opportunities to be endless. You never get enough of the natural beauty that Clarens holds. I have been to Clarens 4 times to date and each year she has something new to offer and inspire me. Lush green landscapes, majestic mountains and a clean air.

With a variety of accommodations available, you can get in touch with your wild side and enjoy some camping, enjoy clear star filled skies and majestic mountain backdrops. If sleeping in a tent isnt for you, you can choose from the bed and breakfasts to guest lodges and hotels. I have personally stayed every year at the Clarens Golf Estate, Guinea Fowl Lodge. A beautifully 12 sleeper house over looking Clarens Town and the golf estate.  Underfloor heating, amazing beds and all at an affordable rate. See their website for up to date rates.

I am hoping to plan a camping trip to Clarens for a different feel on the accommodation side of this little town.

A must do is the multiple hikes available. The climb can be hard but the views are worth it. Rock paintings, waterfalls, caves, chain ladders, beauty every step of the way. Out of the 4 hikes I have conquered the bush paintings would be the best. Once I got to the top of the mountain the views were to die for.

After a hike you can relax at your accommodation or take a stroll through town. Granted its only a few shops around a square, but it has something that calls your soul to it every time. Enjoy browsing the shops, from crafts to clothing and much more. When you done shopping you can take a break for a drink and bite to eat and then finish off your afternoon admiring the paintings and sculptures in the art galleries.
